PHILOSOPHY & CURRICULUM

Philosophy

Each child has an infinite natural capacity to learn. Children are empowered to learn and reach their full potential when immersed in a safe, nurturing environment. Passionate and knowledgeable teachers will provide many opportunities for children to explore their sense of wonder. Our philosophy is to celebrate the whole child, promote positive relationships, encourage individual creative expression, and play.

Our Curriculum

There are 5 Domains that make up the HELDS (Hawaii Early Learning Developmental Standards): Physical Well-Being Health & Motor Development, Social & Emotional Development, Approaches to Learning, Cognition & General Knowledge, and English Language Arts and Literacy. We've come up with 9 mutually supportive strands that focus on the fundamental skills, concepts, and values that address the individual child, as well as the group. With the 9 strands as themes, and the HELDS as a guideline, teachers create age-appropriate activities to enhance each child's abilities. The nine strands are:
  1. Child Directed Activities
  2. Family
  3. Community
  4. Global Cultures
  5. Place
  6. Safety & Wellness
  7. Creative Arts
  8. Literacy
  9. Inquiry
